51. Mr. Milne

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is amount of factory space in terms of new industries built in the London area, Midlands area and North East England during the past twelve months.

Mr. Maudling

The Board of Trade control over industrial building operates through Industrial Development Certificates. The amount of factory space covered by I.D.C.s issued in the past twelve months for firms new to the greater London area was none, to the Midlands 36,000 sq. ft. for a special workshop for disabled persons, and to North East England 521,000 sq. ft.
