HC Deb 16 March 1961 vol 636 c136W
47. Sir. Richard Pilkington

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what recent inquiries he has made into the possibilities of shortening the quarantine periods for dogs or cats coming into this country.

Mr. Vane

My right hon. Friend receives from time to time proposals for reducing the present quarantine period of six months, but as the incubation stage of rabies may be as long as six months before any signs appear, he is not prepared to reduce the period.
