HC Deb 16 March 1961 vol 636 cc149-50W
Mr. Stodart

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what consideration he is giving to the law relating to children and young persons in Scotland.

Mr. Maclay

I have decided to set up a Departmental Committee with the following terms of reference: To consider the provisions of the law of Scotland relating to the treatment of juvenile delinquents and juveniles in need of care or protection or beyond parental control and, in particular, the constitution, powers and procedure of the courts dealing with such luveniles, and to report.

Lord Kilbrandon has agreed to act as chairman of the Committee.
