HC Deb 14 March 1961 vol 636 cc111-2W
71. Mr. Elwyn Jones

asked the Minister of Labour how many dockers are unemployed in the Royal Group of Docks; and what steps are being taken to reduce the incidence of unemployment in the docks.

Mr. Hare

The administration of the Dock Labour Scheme is the responsibility of the National Dock Labour Board. The Board informs me that there was a shortage of labour yesterday and men had to be brought in from other parts of the port. I am satisfied that the Board does its best to minimise the amount of idle time.
