asked the Minister of Transport what priority he will give to the improvement of the A.46 road passing through Newark.

Mr. Marples

It is too soon to fore. cast when A.46 in Newark can be improved. Construction of the Newark Bypass on A.1 has high priority however, and this will afford relief to the section of A.46 at Castle Gate which now also carries Great North Road traffic.
