§ Mr. PowellThe North West Metropolitan Regional Hospital Board is planning a new district hospital. After consultation with my noble Friend the Minister for Science, I have agreed to a proposal that the National Clinical Research Centre, which is was announced in December, 1959, was to be set up by the Medical Research Council, shall be located on the same site and built in conjunction with the district hospital. Besides providing beds for the needs of the district, the new hospital will be designed to include a group of clinical units of up to 200 beds for the special investigation of patients and for specialised forms of treatment.
