§ 68. Mr. Awberyasked the Attorney-General if he is satisfied that the number of magistrates is sufficient to carry on the work of the courts without imposing hardship by long sittings; and what consideration he has given to the need to increase the number of justices of the peace to deal with the increasing number of cases coming before the magistrates' courts.
§ The Attorney-GeneralMy noble Friend the Lord Chancellor is satisfied that the number of magistrates is at present sufficient to carry on the work of the courts. With the assistance of his Advisory Committees he keeps the position continually under review and new appointments are made as soon as the need for them is known.
