VISCOUNT COLVILLE OF CULROSSasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they have now received the report of the independent Committee under Mr. Justice Cairns, appointed in 222WA November, 1959, to inquire into the law and practice governing the investigation of accidents to civil aircraft and the conditions under which licences of flight crew and maintenance engineers might be suspended, and whether they will make a statement.
§ THE PAYMASTER GENERAL (LORD MILLS)My right honourable friend the Minister of Aviation has received the Committee's Report and he has decided that it should be published. Copies will be placed in the Library of the House and made available to noble Lords in the Printed Paper Office today.
The Report is a most useful one and my right honourable friend considers the lines of its recommendations to be broadly acceptable.
Decisions on the detailed implementation of the Report must, however, await the outcome of further detailed study of its recommendations by the Government, in consultation with the interests concerned.
House adjourned at ten minutes before ten o'clock.
