HC Deb 21 June 1961 vol 642 cc135-6W
Mr. Boyden

asked the Minister of Transport if he will give a general direction to the British Transport Commission that when the Commission is proposing a closure of a branch line it shall refer to the appropriate consultative committee all curtailment of services envisaged by the Commission within the next three years which could affect the rail services offered in the area, so that the consultative committees can consider the closure of a particular line in the context of the rail facilities likely to be available in the area in subsequent years.

Mr. Marples

No. It is for the committees to decide what information they require in considering closure proposals.
