§ Mr. SandysI assume that the hon. Member is referring to reported arrests of a number of persons in South Africa preceding the declaration of the Republic on 31st May. No reports have been received of arrests of British protected persons in that period. Her Majesty's Ambassador has reported the arrest of one citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies, who was remanded on his own recognisances and is to appear in court on 9th June.
