§ Mr. Russellasked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that severe traffic congestion occurred in the St. John's Wood area, N.W.8, between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Thursday, 20th July, causing people to be unexpectedly late for business, owing to minor road works in Park Road, N.W.1; and if he will ascertain the object of the works and 50W whether they could have been deferred until after the morning peak hour.
§ Mr. MarplesThe works in question were connected with the installation of a Central Electricity Generating Board power cable. The programme of work agreed in accordance with the Public Utilities Street Works Act, 1950, between the Board's contractors and the St. Marylebone Borough Council who are the highway authority was considered by the Metropolitan Police to be satisfactory. It did not require my approval.
