§ Mr. Wallasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what contribution from colonial development and welfare funds has been made to the Oppenheimer College of Social Service in Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia; and whether any further grants are contemplated.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodA sum of £7,446 has been provisionally set aside for the College subject to the submission of an acceptable scheme. The Northern Rhodesia Government are primarily responsible for determining the priority of schemes for development and welfare within the territory, and have decided to devote all other funds available to other projects. If a further allocation of funds were made available to the territory under the Colonial Development and Welfare Acts and they decided to apply for a further grant for the College, I would, of course, be ready to consider the application.
