§ 37. Dr. Strossasked the Parliamentary Secretary for Science whether he will make a statement on the study, supported by Her Majesty's Government, of the regional distribution of lymphosarcoma in children in Africa; and whether any surveys of the type being carried out by the British Empire Cancer Campaign on the association between cancer and the environment are conducted by any other organisation supported by Her Majesty's Government.
§ Mr. Denzil FreethThe results of a study of the geographical distribution of lymphosarcoma in Africa, being undertaken at Makerere College, Uganda, have raised the possibility of a specific agent being responsible for the disease. Further studies are being undertaken to ascertain whether or not this is so. In the United Kingdom the Medical Research Council are also investigating cancer incidence in relationship to the environment.
