HC Deb 04 July 1961 vol 643 c93W
24. Mr. McKay

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the difference in real money terms between the net average wage in 1938 and the net average wage in 1960 expressed in terms of the value of money in 1938.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

For industries covered by the Ministry of Labour's periodic inquiries the net average earnings of a married manual worker without children in October, 1960, were 31 per cent. higher in real terms than in October, 1938.
