Mr. Edelmanasked the Minister of Labour what was the estimated industrial population of the Coventry district of the Factory Department at 1st June, 1941, and the number of factory inspectors who were in post in that district; and what was the estimated industrial population of the same district at 1st June, 1961, and the number of factory inspectors then in post.
§ Mr. GreenThe best estimate that can now be made of the number employed in factories in the Coventry district in 1941 is 110,000. The comparable figure for 1961 is 125,000. Three factory inspectors were in post in both years.
