HL Deb 03 July 1961 vol 232 c1252WA
LORD BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

With regard to the announced fifty-year interest-free loan to India by the Industrial Development Association of the World Bank the extent to which, if any, among the contributory sources from which such funds are derived, United Kingdom contributions percolate into such loan.

THE MINISTER WITHOUT PORTFOLIO (THE EARL OF DUNDEE)

Interest-free development credits by the International Development Association, an affiliate of the International Bank, are provided from the Association's resources generally. The United Kingdom makes the second largest contribution to these resources (over 13 per cent. of the total) and can therefore be regarded as making a corresponding contribution to any individual credit by the Association, such as the credit to India.

House adjourned at half-past six o'clock.
