HC Deb 30 January 1961 vol 633 c83W
Lieut.-Colonel Cordeaux

asked the Minister of Health (1) if he will state the full name and address of the former porter at the Nottingham General Hospital who committed an indecency on the dead body of the late Miss Ada Roberts, of 4, Union Terrace, Nottingham, in the hospital mortuary;

(2) whether he is satisfied that existing regulations are adequate to prevent the commission of indecencies on dead human bodies in hospitals; and whether there was a breach of such regulations at the Nottingham General Hospital in the case of the late Miss Ada Roberts, of 4, Union Terrace, Nottingham.

Mr. Powell:

I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend the name and address. Existing safeguards are adequate where death takes place in hospital. In this case the hospital agreed to receive a dead body, which would normally be taken to the city mortuary. Should this occur again, a procedure will be followed which makes any such incident impossible.
