HC Deb 30 January 1961 vol 633 cc77-8W
79. Mr. Tiley

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether he will take further steps to inform employees about the contributions and benefits of the new graduated pensions scheme which starts in April.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter:

Yes. As the House knows, leaflets explaining the Graduated Pension Scheme have been freely available from my Department's local offices since August, 1959. A new short leaflet outlining the Scheme is now also available from local Pensions and National Insurance Offices and will be in Post Offices from Thursday of this week. My Department has written to some 30,000 of the larger employers inviting them to apply for supplies of this leaflet for distribution to their employees. A similar invitation will shortly be addressed to other employers through advertisements in the Press, which will also give a brief outline of the Scheme.

Posters and leaflets giving the April contribution rates will be distributed to employers at the begining of March and further Press advertisements, for the information of insured persons generally, will appear towards the end of March.
