§ Mr. Swinglerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs in how many cases he has granted loan sanction to local authorities to enable them to purchase cinemas which were about to be closed.
§ Mr. Brooke:In the past five years loan sanction has been given for the acquisition of some ten cinemas for put poses which are the concern of my Department, including the provision of public halls, swimming baths and a library. Where my Department sanctions loans for purposes which are the concern of other Departments, my records do not show whether a cinema about to close was involved or not.
