§ 61. Mr. Wyattasked the Lord Privy Seal whether he will arrange to visit the Persian Gulf in order to discuss, with the rulers of various States in the area with whom the United Kingdom has treaty relationships, the modernisation of those relationships.
§ Mr. HeathI have just returned from a tour of the States of the Gulf. I met and had talks with the Rulers or Acting Rulers of seven of them. Relations between Her Majesty's Government and these Rulers are not solely determined by existing Treaties, but are based also on many years of friendship and common interest. They have accordingly and naturally developed in the changing circumstances of the area and I would expect them to continue to do so.
