HC Deb 23 February 1961 vol 635 c71W
60. Sir C. Black

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what evidence he has received from other large cities similar to that which shows an increase of drunkenness in 1960 of 27 per cent. at Bradford, 40 per cent. at Sheffield, and 50 per cent. at Bristol; and what administrative action he proposes to take to deal with this situation.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The information so far available indicates marked variations from place to place and does not suggest that, for the country as a whole, the number of convictions of drunkenness increased greatly in 1960.
