HC Deb 21 February 1961 vol 635 c44W
Mr. John Page

asked the Minister of Health how many people are known to be suffering from silicosis; how many of these live away from mining areas; to what extent the incidence of this complaint is growing less; and to what extent advances in modern treatment are helping to reduce the pain and discomfort of the sufferers.

Mr. Powell

I regret that the figures asked for are not available. Modern treatment can alleviate the discomfort associated with silicosis by controlling secondary infections.
