HC Deb 21 February 1961 vol 635 cc43-4W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Minister of Health what undertaking is required of a dentist who is on the local executive council's list for the National Health Service not to persuade patients to opt out of the National Health Service scheme and have treatment as private fee-paying patients.

Mr. Powell

Once a dentist has accepted a patient for treatment under the National Health Service he is required to provide all the treatment necessary for dental fitness that the patient is willing to receive and may not charge privately for it; but a dentist on the local dental list is free to engage in private practice.
