The Crown Estate Commissioners administer some 300,000 acres of urban and rural property. A large part of the urban property is in Central London. The agricultural estates comprising some 280,000 acres are situated in 28 countries in England, 5 in Scotland, and 2 in Wales. Details of the individual estates were given in the Appendix to the Commissioners' Annual Report for 1959–60 which was laid before the House on 9th December last. The workpeople employed on the maintenance of estates number 529, of whom 73 are in Scotland and the rest in England and Wales.
