86. Mr. Slaterasked the Minister of Health how many capital schemes for the provision of welfare accommodation for elderly people have been authorised; how many have been rejected since 1956; if he will give the reasons for rejection; and what is the number of applications still awaiting consent.
§ Mr. PowellSince 1st January, 1956, loan sanction has been given or promised for 930 schemes in England and Wales excluding the County of London—where this procedure does not apply. Some were modified before sanction but none, so far as I have ascertained, rejected. There are 119 under consideration.
