HC Deb 20 February 1961 vol 635 cc23-4W
Mr. Randall

asked the Minister of Transport how many vehicles broke down on M.1 during the twelve months after its opening.

Mr. Marples

The motoring organisations estimate that during the twelve months November, 1959, to October, 1960, their road patrols have attended

at Kyleakin has been delayed by difficulty in getting satisfactory foundations for the sea walls, but I expect it to be finished by the middle of May.

When work at the Kyleakin slip has been completed it should be possible for two ferries to use the slips on both sides of the crossing at all states of the tide. This will increase their capacity substantially.
