HC Deb 17 February 1961 vol 634 cc180-1W
Mr. Robert Cooke

asked the Postmaster-General what plans he has for the extension of subscribers' trunk dialling in the Bristol area.

Mr. Bevins:

I am extending S.T.D. in Bristol in accordance with the plans outlined in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Bristol, North-West (Mr. McLaren) on 28th July, 1960. Seven Bristol exchanges now have S.T.D., including Bristol North and West, where it has been introduced this week. Our plans provide for five more exchanges to have it by July this year. This will leave only a few subscribers in the whole of Bristol without S.T.D.—those connected to the Whitchurch Exchange.
