HC Deb 17 February 1961 vol 634 c174W
93. Mr. Whitlock

asked the Minister of Education what steps he proposes to take to improve the supply of science teachers.

Sir D. Eccles:

The present campaign to attract more teachers back to the schools pays special attention to the shortage of science teachers. In the training college expansion programme, special emphasis has been placed on the provision of more and better science courses. The expansion of the universities should also provide more science teachers and I am taking steps to interest undergraduates in teaching as a career.
