HC Deb 17 February 1961 vol 634 cc157-8W
38. Mr. Dodds

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement following his consideration of the recommendation by the Standing Joint Committee of the Royal Automobile Club and the Automobile Association advocating a much greater degree of uniformity in the enforcement by the Metropolitan police of traffic laws.

Mr. Renton:

The only recent recommendations made by this Committee about the enforcement of the traffic laws, so far as I am aware, are those included in their memorandum of evidence to the Royal Commission on the Police. It would not be appropriate for me to make any comment on these at this stage.

Assaults on Police and Drunkenness 15. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people were charged with assaulting the police and simultaneously charged with drunkenness in each of the years 1940, 1950, 1955, and 1960, respectively.
