Mr. Leavey

asked the Minister of Health what is the total cost of drugs supplied on prescription through the National Health Service from which the average figure of 7s. 4d. per item has been calculated; and by how much the current average cost of each prescription item would have to be reduced in order to yield an annual saving of £12½ million to the Exchequer.

£88.9 million; and about one shilling.
