asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has now received the report of the departmental committee on the payment of compensation to victims of crimes of violence; and if he will make a statement.

I have received the report of the official working party which has been examining this problem. I am studying the report, but as the subject is one of considerable complexity I cannot say when I shall be in a position to make any further statement.
