39. Mr. H. Wilsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in the light of the statement made by the Financial Secretary to the Treasury on 15th April, 1960, concerning the need for long-term assessments of Government non-capital expenditure commitments, he will now state his estimates of the expected cost of the educational services, the National Health Service, pensions and National Insurance, and Government contributions to expenditure on roads, for the financial years 1961–62, 1962–63, 1963–64, and 1964–65.
§ Sir E. Boyle:The publication of estimates for some years ahead is bound up with the whole question of control and management of public expenditure, which has been under review for some time. My right hon. and learned Friend is not at this stage prepared to make a change in existing practice, but he has noted the right hon. Member's suggestion.
