HC Deb 02 February 1961 vol 633 c158W
Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many leaders of the United National Independence Party are subject to restriction in Northern Rhodesia; and what other steps are being, taken by the Northern Rhodesian Government to restrict the activities of this party.

Mr. Iain Macleod

The answer to both parts of the Question is none so far as concerns powers exercisable by the Northern Rhodesian Government. Native Authorities may, however, from time to time exercise their powers under the Native Authorities Ordinance to regulate the movement of Africans into or within their areas of jurisdiction.
