HC Deb 02 February 1961 vol 633 c162W
Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Minister of Labour what was the number of accidents causing injury to workmen in the Llanwern project during the past 12 months; what was the rate per 1,000 of work-people employed that this represents; and how this compares. with the national average of industrial accidents.

Mr. P. Thomas

Ninety accidents were reported during 1960, making a rate of 20 per 1,000 persons employed. In 1959 the rate of reported accidents in factories was 23 per 1,000 for males and 19 for 1,000 for all workers. A rate covering the construction industries will be published for the first time later this year in the Chief Inspector's Report for 1960.
