§ 26 and 59. Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Lord Privy Seal (1) if he will resist in the North Atlantic Treaty Oragnisation the proposals which have been submitted to give West German forces control of nuclear warheads;
(2) if he will give an assurance that Her Majesty's Government, in order to help secure a peaceful settlement between East and West, will not in any circumstances consent to the placing in the hands of the German Government either direct or indirect control of nuclear weapons.
§ Mr. HeathNo proposals for giving Federal German forces independent control of nuclear warheads have been submitted to the North Atlantic Council. In accordance with the resolution for which the United Kingdom voted in the United Nations on 4th December, Her Majesty's Government would be opposed to the relinquishment of control of nuclear weapons to any non-nuclear state.
