asked the Minister of Labour if he will state the number of young persons on the Disabled Persons Register in December, 1961; and how many training centres are now in operation to help them train for suitable employment.

3,168 boys and 2,607 girls were on the Disabled Persons Register on 16th October, 1961, the latest date for which figures are available. Facilities for training disabled young persons are

Industries in which there was a considerable excess of vacancies over unemployed included coal mining, engineering and electrical goods, and clothing and footwear. Seasonal or regional variations affect the industries in both groups. As regards the second part of the Question, the following table shows changes in employment in the main industry groups during the last two years.
