Mr. VaneMy Department and the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland are the main purchasers and have together bought 47 bulls of British breeds this year, namely:
£ 3 Friesans … 985 average 1 Jersey … 750 1 Ayrshire … 525 2 Herefords … 307 average 36 Beef Shorthorns … 170 average 4 Highland … 90 average There may have been a small number bought by other Departments but details are not readily available.
