HC Deb 13 December 1961 vol 651 cc55-6W
Mr. Symonds

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what was the amount of special subsidy received by the North Eastern Housing Association for 1958, 1959, 1960, and to the latest available date in 1961.

Dr. Hill

I assume that by special subsidies the hon. Member means the subsidies paid directly to the Association in respect of war-time houses. The amount in each of the calendar years is question was £10,237.

Mr. Symonds

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what was the amount of ordinary subsidy received by the North Eastern Housing Association for the first 10 months of 1958, 1959, 1960, and 1961.

Dr. Hill

Under the ordinary arrangements in respect of houses built by a housing association in conjunction with a local authority, the Exchequer subsidies are paid to the local authority who are required to pay the Association by way of annual grant an amount not less than the Exchequer subsidy. The Department's records do not show the amounts and dates of the Association's receipts. The Exchequer payments to the local authorities in respect of the Association's houses are as under:

Calendar year Amount paid during first 10 months of year Amount paid during whole year or to Date
£ £
1958 109,494 169,234
1959 87,926 156,890
1960 104,486 167,076
1961 103,647 158,170
(to 30.11.61)
