§ 47. Sir B. Jannerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he is aware that there is a large number of applicants registered for housing accommodation in Leicester, and that the programme for building has been reduced from that of previous periods; and what steps he proposes to take to enable more houses to be built for letting at rentals appropriate to the needs there.
Dr. HillWhile the programme for 1962 which the Council has put to me for approval is smaller than those for preceding years, it has a substantial number of houses under construction or in tenders approved but not started. Completions in 1962 should therefore be maintained at much the same level as in recent years.
