§ 88. Mr. Gowerasked the Minister of Transport in how many cases in England and Wales, respectively, he has approved alterations of speed limits from 30 miles per hour to 40 miles per hour; and how many similar alterations are now under consideration.
§ Mr. MarplesSince 4th August, 1960, when the new provisions permitting a 30 m.p.h. limit to be raised to 40 m.p.h. came into operation, I have approved 34 cases in England and 2 in Wales. A further 118 cases in England and 4 in Wales are at present under consideration by my Department.
