Bromley-Davenportasked the Minister of Transport why advance distance markers of motorway pattern have been installed on Colnbrook by-pass, trunk road A.4; why the markers on the offside of the road have the bars sloping in the wrong direction and not in accordance with continental practice as specified in Note 2 254W to diagram 130 of the Traffic Signs (Amendment) Regulations, 1960; and whether he will take remedial action in this matter.
§ Mr. MarplesThese signs were put up without my authority by contractors in conjunction with temporary traffic signals necessitated by work on the Slough by-pass. I gave instructions on 2nd August for the signs to be removed.
