§ Dr. Alan Thompsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give an assurance that the proposed increases in salaries of university teachers will not be reduced as a result of his decision to limit public expenditure.
§ Mr. Selwyn LloydI can give no such assurance. The report just received from the University Grants Committee will be given due consideration, in the light of my statement on 25th July.
