Wilsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will set up an authoritative committee to inquire into the economics of the oil industry in so far as they relate to Great Britain's balance of payments on visible and invisible account, including an assessment of the cost to the country in terms of capital investment overseas, dividend and other overseas earnings received by this country, dividends transmitted abroad, and any other transactions whether in sterling or convertible currencies.
