§ Mr. R. W. Elliottasked the Minister of Transport if he will make representations to the Canadian Government about their proposal to subsidise shipbuilding, in view of the adverse effect this will have upon the United Kingdom shipbuilding industry.
§ Mr. MarplesThe views of the United Kingdom Government have been communicated to the Canadian Government and the question is under discussion with them. No formal reply has been received, but we hope to be consulted about the way in which the subsidy will be administered before detailed regulations take effect.
