§ Mr. Mawbyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has yet completed his consideration of proposals for
158W
Sir E. BolyeFollowing is the Answer:
a National Disaster Fund to make payments in cases of national disaster.
§ Sir E. BoyleThe Government have considered the various proposals that 159W have been made. They have come to the conclusion that the extended arrangements for private insurance, referred to in the Minister of Housing's statement to Parliament today, are a much better alternative than a compulsory insurance fund; and that the establishment of a permanent charitable fund, supported by Exchequer money, is neither practicable nor desirable.
