§ Mr. BrookeThe Government are asking local authorities to consider what expenditures in all services can reasonably be avoided or postponed without damage to essentials. The decision will depend on local circumstances, but the Chancellor gave one general example—the postponement of the proposed increased expenditure which the Wolfenden Committee suggested.
