HC Deb 25 April 1961 vol 639 cc28-9W
65. Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, if he is aware of the widespread criticism in Scotland of the appointment by the Registrar of people to undertake duties in connection with the General Census in their own localities; and if he will make a statement on his policy in this matter.

Mr. Maclay

While the Registrar General has received a few complaints from householders whose enumerators were known to them, there is no evidence of widespread criticism. Indeed there have also been cases of householders who were unwilling to accept schedules from strangers.
