HC Deb 19 April 1961 vol 638 cc97-8W
Mr. N. Dodds

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware of the dissatisfaction of telephone subscribers resulting from the introduction of the automatic dialling system between London and north-west Kent, in view of the fact that the engaged signal is frequently received when the number required is not engaged, details of which have been supplied by the hon. Member for Erith and Crayford; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Bevins

I am sorry about these difficulties. They are due to the unexpectedly heavy growth of traffic and the shortage of circuits to and from London. I am providing extra circuits as quickly as possible, and I hope to have the service greatly improved by the autumn.
