Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is aware that the agreement recently concluded between Great Britain and Iceland about fishing limits and territorial waters makes essential more and larger fishing vessels for the British fleets; and if he will now state his plans for financial assistance to the fishing industry to carry out the necessary shipbuilding.

I know that some reorganisation and re-equipment of the fleet is needed. While it is for the industry itself to decide what types of vessel

service; and, in each case, how many of these officers are over and under the age of 60 years, respectively.
