HC Deb 18 April 1961 vol 638 c86W
Captain Kerby

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state the approximate cost of travelling expenses per head of persons employed in his Department in 1960.

Mr. R. A. Butler

Including travelling, subsistence and removal expenses, as these cannot readily be separated, the approximate figure for Home Office staff was £32 10s. The corresponding figure for Prison Commission staff, excluding the cost of escorting and conveying prisoners, was £25 15s.
